App Store & Google Play Scraper

Keeping an eye on your app and your competitors in two stores means a lot of checking the same pages. This App Store and Google Play scraper does the checking and reports only what changed: a new version, a rating drop, a rank you gained or lost.

What it does

For every app and country you list, the tool reads the store listing and records:

  • Ratings and rating counts, installs (Google Play), price, version, last update date and release notes.
  • Chart positions in the App Store top charts.
  • Keyword ranks: where your apps appear when someone searches a keyword in a given store and country, plus the top results for that keyword.
  • New Google Play reviews, if you switch them on.

Unlike a one-time App Store and Google Play scraper, the tool keeps the last state of each app and keyword, so on every later run it reports only what changed and lists the changed fields. A daily schedule gives you a short list of real changes instead of the same data again.

On the Apple side it uses Apple's official iTunes Search and Lookup APIs and the official RSS chart feeds. On the Google Play side it reads the public app and search pages, using the same data paths as the widely used open-source google-play-scraper library. No login and no API keys are needed.

Who uses it

  • ASO specialists tracking keyword ranks for their own apps and their competitors in several countries.
  • Product and growth teams who want to know when a competitor ships a new version, changes the price or picks up a rating dip.
  • Mobile agencies reporting on client apps and their category charts.
  • Market researchers following installs, ratings and release cadence across a category.

How it works

  1. List the apps (App Store IDs or Google Play package names), the countries, and the keywords you want ranks for.
  2. Run it once to record a starting point, then schedule it daily.
  3. Each run reports changes, new ranks and new reviews; send them to Slack, email, Google Sheets or your own system.

Example output

Example output: an app row and a keyword rank row from a sample run, shortened. Field names match the tool's output; values will differ for your apps.

Pricing

Pay per use on Apify. No subscription from us.

  • $0.005 per run
  • $2.00 per 1,000 app checks (one app in one country, change rows included)
  • $3.00 per 1,000 keyword checks (one keyword in one store and one country)
  • $0.50 per 1,000 reviews (Google Play only)

Change and error rows are free. As an example, 10 apps in 2 countries plus 5 keywords in both stores in 2 countries, checked every day, costs $0.005 + 20 × $0.002 + 20 × $0.003, about $0.105 a day or roughly $3.15 a month.

Limits

  • No App Store reviews. Apple's official reviews feed currently returns nothing for the apps tested, and the tool does not rely on Apple's private APIs. Google Play reviews are supported.
  • Google Play keyword ranks cover the first page of results, about 20 to 30 apps. An app below that shows no rank.
  • Charts are App Store only and limited to the top 100, which is what Apple's feed provides. Google Play charts are not supported.
  • App Store keyword ranks come from Apple's official search API. The order is close to, but not always identical to, what an iPhone shows, because Apple personalises results and adds Search Ads.

FAQ

Do I need an Apple or Google developer account?

No. The tool uses public data: Apple's official public APIs and feeds, and Google Play's public pages.

Why are App Store reviews not included?

Apple's official customer reviews feed currently returns no entries for the apps tested. Getting them would mean depending on Apple's private web API, which the tool deliberately avoids.

How are version changes detected for apps that say “Varies with device”?

Google Play shows no version number for those apps, so a new release shows up as a change in the last updated date instead.

Can I track ranks in several countries?

Yes. Each keyword is checked per store and per country you list, and billed as one keyword check each.

Will I be charged twice for the same review?

No. Google Play serves reviews per language, so each app's reviews are fetched once per run, and duplicates are never charged.
