Google Trends Scraper & API

Google does not offer a public Google Trends API for everyday use. This tool fills the gap: send it keywords and get Trends data back as JSON you can drop into a spreadsheet, a dashboard or an AI workflow.

What it does

The scraper reads the same data you see on trends.google.com and returns it in a consistent structure. For every keyword you ask about, you get:

  • Interest over time on Google's 0 to 100 scale, plus a short summary per term: average, peak and peak date, latest value, percentage change, and whether the term is rising, falling or stable.
  • Interest by region: countries worldwide, or regions, cities and US metro areas inside one country. When Google has no city data, it falls back to metros or regions on its own.
  • Top related queries for each term, with their relative values.
  • Comparisons of up to five keywords on one shared scale, or hundreds of keywords analyzed one by one.
  • Trending searches for any country, with search volume, growth, start time, related queries and categories.

You can filter by country or region, time range (from the past hour back to 2004, or custom dates), category and search type: web, images, news, YouTube or Google Shopping. If you already have a Trends page open, paste its URL and the tool uses the same terms and settings.

Google Trends does not welcome automated traffic, so the tool handles the tedious parts. It retries failed requests, slows down and tries again when Google answers with a 429 error, rotates proxies between sessions, and filters out the decoy queries Google slips into rising lists. Nothing is hidden: removed items stay in a separate field with the reason they were dropped, so you can check the filter's decisions yourself.

Who uses it

  • SEO and content teams who plan articles around seasonal peaks and want the related queries behind a topic.
  • E-commerce and product researchers comparing demand for a product across regions and months before they stock or launch it.
  • Market and investment analysts tracking interest in brands, categories or tickers on one comparable scale.
  • Newsrooms and social media editors who watch trending searches by country through the day.
  • Developers who need Trends data inside dashboards, Google Sheets or LLM agents without maintaining a scraper.

How it works

  1. Enter your keywords, or paste a Google Trends URL, and pick the country, time range, category and search type.
  2. Run it once on Apify, or schedule it hourly, daily or weekly so the data stays current.
  3. Download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or pull them through the Apify API, Make, Zapier, n8n or the Apify MCP server.

Example output

Example output, shortened. Field names match what the tool returns; the values come from one sample run and will differ for your keywords and dates.

Pricing

Pay per use on Apify. No subscription from us.

  • $0.01 per run
  • $1.50 per 1,000 results (one result is one keyword, one comparison of up to five keywords, or one trending search)

There are no proxy or compute charges on top, and failed queries are free. As an example, 100 keywords with all their data come to $0.01 for the run plus $0.15 for the results, so $0.16 in total. You can set a maximum number of results or a maximum cost per run, and the tool stops cleanly when it gets there.

Limits

  • No related topics. Google currently withholds them for automated requests, so the field comes back empty and the output says why.
  • Rising queries are noisy. Google mixes unrelated items into rising and breakout lists for automated traffic. The decoy filter removes most of them, but treat rising queries as experimental.
  • Values are relative, not search volumes. Google scales every query from 0 to 100, so two terms are only directly comparable when they are in the same comparison.

FAQ

Is there an official Google Trends API?

Not one that is open to the general public. This tool uses the same JSON endpoints the Google Trends website calls in your browser, and returns the results in a stable format.

How many keywords can I run at once?

Hundreds per run. Keywords are processed in parallel, each on its own proxy session, so a large list does not take hours.

Why do the values change between separate and comparison mode?

Google scales values from 0 to 100 inside each query. A keyword analyzed alone is scaled against itself; in a comparison it is scaled against the other terms. Use comparison mode when you need terms on the same scale.

Does it return search volumes?

No. Google Trends publishes relative interest, not absolute search counts, and this tool returns exactly what Google publishes. The exception is trending searches, which come with Google's own volume estimate.

Can I use it from Python, n8n, Make or Zapier?

Yes. Call it through the Apify API from any language, use the official Make, Zapier and n8n integrations, or connect AI agents through the Apify MCP server.

Is it legal to collect Google Trends data?

The tool collects public, aggregated data and no personal data. You are still responsible for following Google's terms and the laws that apply to how you use the data.
